What 5,846 Store Offers Reveal About Online Coupons in 2026
We looked at every offer across the 5,555 stores we track. Most "coupons" aren't what you think.
Everyone says "just use a coupon code at checkout." So we looked at our own data to see how often that advice actually holds up. Across the 5,555 online stores and 5,846 active offers we track at Koupora, here's what the coupon landscape really looks like in 2026.
1. Most "coupons" aren't codes at all
Of the 5,846 live offers we track, only 1,087 are actual coupon codes you type at checkout. The other 4,759 are deals — discount links, sales, and offers that apply automatically. In other words, fewer than 1 in 5 store offers is a classic code. If you've ever hunted for a promo box that didn't exist, that's why: for most stores, the "coupon" is really a deal link, not a code.
Takeaway for shoppers: don't assume every store has a code. Often the best available saving is a deal that's already live — no code needed.
2. Fashion and beauty dominate the discount world
The offers we track span 42 categories, but they're far from evenly spread. The four biggest by number of stores:
- Fashion — 1,386 stores
- Beauty — 890 stores
- Home — 706 stores
- Tech — 405 stores
Fashion alone accounts for roughly a quarter of every store we list. If you shop those categories, you'll almost always find something — the competition for your click keeps discounts flowing.
3. Store reputations skew average — check before you buy
We matched 3,529 stores to their public Trustpilot ratings. The average score was 3.33 out of 5, and only 1,252 stores (about 35%) scored 4 stars or higher. That's a useful reminder: a working coupon doesn't guarantee a good store. Roughly two-thirds of the stores we could rate sit below the 4-star mark, so it's worth a 10-second reputation check before you check out — not just a hunt for the biggest discount.
4. Real sales are rarer than they look
At the moment we counted, only 390 products across our tracked stores were genuinely marked down from a higher original price. Plenty of stores advertise "sale," but a verifiable price cut — an item priced below its own listed original — is the exception, not the rule. When you find one, it's worth acting on.
How we counted
These numbers come from Koupora's own catalog on the date of writing: every store page, offer, and rating we track. We don't invent discount percentages or ratings — if a value isn't verifiable, we leave it blank. That's also why our counts are conservative: we'd rather undercount than overstate a deal.
